How HOA software can help you in lockdown

Community is at the heart of what HOAs are all about, but in times of social distancing, keeping in touch with neighbors can be a challenge for many people. This is when creativity and technology can be very helpful!

We’ve been in touch with clients to find out how they’ve been using Neighbors during COVID-19. They shared some of the ways they’re communicating with their community and bringing residents together. Keep reading for our tips and suggestions and find out how HOA software can help your community.

Egg hunt in the HOA

Kids love Easter, the little ones can hunt for eggs, wait for the bunny, and have some chocolate. This Easter was very different from the usual.

Event committees and boards had to get creative to be able to celebrate Easter while respecting social isolation.

Swallows Nest HOA always hosts a Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt. Since they couldn’t do that this year, they used Neighbors to organize an adorable alternative egg hunt in their HOA.

They sent out a notice asking people to make big paper eggs to stick up in their windows, garage, or in their garden for a few days so that people can find them when they go outside for a walk. The events committee was kind enough to send us some pictures of some of the eggs, and we love them!

Create a Zoo

For an idea that can be done at any time Oak Valley HOA had a blast with a very sweet idea. They used Neighbors HOA software to ask residents to hide wild (stuffed) animals around their yard.

If you need a way to keep children entertained, you can bring the zoo into your HOA.  It also encourages people to leave the house and keep their eyes peeled for something different.

We are definitely living through a difficult time, but keeping in touch with your community, and bringing them together safely can be simpler than you think!

Sidewalk art competition

As the weather gets nicer, an art competition and walkabout is a really great way to get your community together and involved safely.

Riverwoods Plantation organized an art competition, they charged a small fee for the chalk and they produced maps so residents could walk around and judge the artworks. The person who won got a gift certificate for a local restaurant for them and one other person.

We love this idea because it encouraged people to get creative, get some exercise, and support local businesses!

Important information

The other change that we have seen on Neighbors is the number of communities using it to keep people updated on what’s going on.

From messages of reassurance to telling people about new regulations in their area, so many property managers and boards have been using our software to stay in touch with residents and let them know quickly and safely what’s happening.

We’re glad that our HOA software can help, even if it’s just a little bit, during this difficult time.
