Top 3 Ways to Bring Positive Change to Your HOA

Bringing a positive change to your HOA and having an impact on your community is important. You want to make your community a better place and improving it for yourself and others is a way to make a difference where you live.

In this article, we’ll talk about 3 ways to bring positive change to your homeowners’ association.

1 – Be a good neighbor

Getting to know your neighbors is a great first step to bringing change. Take time to greet them in the street, and make friends with them. Participating in community events is the best way to meet new people and learn more about your community. It’s amazing how a small gesture from your neighbors can make a difference to people and their experience in the community.

It may feel hard to meet your neighbors, here are some ways you can do that:

  • Join a club
  • Host a housewarming party
  • Knock on someone’s door to ask a question
  • If you enjoy baking, make extra and take them around to your neighbor’s
  • If you have a dog, let them help you make friends!

Meeting your neighbors will make you feel more at home, and it’s useful too. If you’re out they can accept a parcel for you and if you need help, they’re there.

2 – Be part of a welcome wagon

When people first move in, they may feel confused as to where to find information and what’s going on. Especially if they’re new to town, it can be hard to adjust to a new place and to make new friends. Being part of a welcome wagon, where you greet the person, share information with them and help them with this transition can have a large impact on them.

If your association doesn’t have a welcome wagon yet, this is a great opportunity to bring positive change to your HOA. Talk to the board, get your neighbors involved, and make a welcome committee to officially welcome new residents.

3 – Join the board

If you want to make large improvements to your neighborhood, and truly bring positive change to your HOA, then you need to join the board of directors. This allows you to be the voice of your community and participate actively in decisions around budgets, maintenance, communication, attend board meetings, and more.

Being a board member has a direct impact on your community’s well-being, and residents’ satisfaction. It’s a big responsibility and a great challenge.

Wrapping Up: How to Bring positive change to your HOA

Making a difference in your community is a wonderful aim. You can do it in a variety of ways, from getting to know your neighbors, a small gesture that can make a difference, or welcoming new residents when they move in to joining the board and taking part in running your association.
