What is HOA dues?

HOA dues are the recurring fees, paid monthly, quarterly, or annually, that fund an association’s common-area upkeep and operating costs, with the amount typically scaled to a property’s size and the amenities available. Collecting and tracking these payments correctly is one of the treasurer’s core responsibilities, since the whole budget depends on that money coming in.

Why does HOA dues matter?

When collection is inconsistent, delinquencies pile up and the operating budget comes up short, one of the fastest routes to needing a special assessment. Frequent special assessments are usually a sign the dues themselves were set too low to begin with, not just bad luck.
