HOA Meeting Quorum

What is an HOA meeting quorum?

An HOA meeting quorum is the minimum number of members or board directors who need to be present, in person or by proxy, for official business to actually take place at a meeting. The exact threshold is set in the community’s bylaws and can vary depending on the type of meeting.

Why does an HOA meeting quorum matter?

Without meeting quorum, any decision made technically isn’t valid, no matter how good the discussion was. Boards that don’t track this carefully risk finding out after the fact that a vote they thought was final has to be redone.
