Management Certificate

What is a management certificate?

A management certificate is a formal document that lays out key information about an HOA, its legal name, mailing address, management company if it has one, and contact details, along with recording information and where the governing documents are kept. There’s no single nationwide version of this filing, several states set out their own statutory requirements for it, Texas’s framework for subdivisions and property owners’ associations is a well-known example, so what’s required and how it gets filed depends on where the community is located.

Why does a management certificate matter?

This document is often what a title company, lender, or new resident needs to confirm they’re dealing with the right entity and reaching the right people. Missing or outdated information here can slow down transactions that shouldn’t take long at all.

When You’ll Run Into This

This gets requested most often during a property sale or refinance, when someone outside the community needs quick, reliable confirmation of who the HOA is.
