Assessments

What is HOA assessments?

Assessments, often called special assessments, are extra fees an HOA charges on top of regular dues to cover costs the budget didn’t plan for. A storm that damages the clubhouse roof, or a water system that needs unexpected expansion, are the kind of surprises that trigger one.

Why does HOA assessments matter?

Nothing tests a board’s relationship with residents quite like an unexpected bill. Special assessments are sometimes unavoidable, but how a board communicates and justifies one determines whether residents see it as fair stewardship or as the board dropping the ball on planning.
